Untamed Feminine

vs Self Silencing

Monika’s documentary takes us on a journey that is familiar to many women, where they are not taken seriously, often gaslighted, and treated as too emotional, too loud, too crazy, and basically “too much”. We learn about stereotypes, dispute false assumptions about gendered emotions, and discover how much we have been trained to self silence and mistrust our wild side. We explore the consequences of embracing and unleashing our untamed nature while letting wilderness into our lives.

We challenge harmful stereotypes and recognize that emotions are a natural and healthy part of the human experience, regardless of gender. We learn that women are not inherently more emotional than men and try to understand why we tend to think otherwise.

We delve deeper into the untamed feminine, understand her gifts, and see what happens if we deny it.

Following this exploration, the film presents a heartfelt examination of untamed femininity and masculinity. This lifelong passion project delves into the untamed spirit within women and men; and questions the societal norms that have compelled many to suppress their true selves. We ask if feminine and masculine are empowered or suppressed and what would have happen if we learn how to let them be more authentic?

The film posits that while people seek safety and order, there’s a detrimental effect to completely rejecting the wild, untamed aspects of our nature. Is our society too rigidly structured? Does the untamed feminine, like water, need space to flow to enrich our lives? This film aims to open a dialogue: Are our efforts to tame this unbridled energy really beneficial, or is there a hidden value in chaos and wildness that we are overlooking?

By engaging with experts and gathering diverse opinions, this film aims to understand the impact of embracing the untamed feminine. It isn’t just an exploration but a journey to discover if unleashing this wild energy could potentially lead to a richer, more fulfilling existence for all or perhaps the status quo is the best possible way forward?

While ‘Untamed Feminine’ is a working title, we aim to clarify our interpretation of femininity for the purpose of creating this documentary—or perhaps more aptly, a ‘Feelingsmentary.’

Feminine energy, which manifests within every individual, regardless of gender, is a complex amalgamation of qualities. These include, but are not limited to, emotion, intuition, vision, receptivity, nurturing, resilience, collaboration, empathy, and adaptability. This energy has been interpreted and valued differently across cultures and epochs, often associated with the concept of womanhood. It’s important to note that our references to ‘feminine’ and ‘womanhood’ serve more as shorthand for an idea rather than strict definitions.

Our ambition lies in delving into our culture and the diverse experiences of individuals. However, it’s essential to acknowledge that we do not claim to represent all experiences; our narrative focuses on our perceptions and how our society engages with individuals who identify with womanhood and embody femininity. As we navigate through this intricate tapestry of narratives and reflections, I am profoundly aware of my extraordinary luck and privilege to have the opportunity to immerse myself in this project. It’s a privilege that highlights both the profound importance and the pressing need for such explorations.
